I’m Engaged

By Arami Team · 10/20/2026

I remember that almost a month ago, I came on here to create my first blog post about turning 27 and how much life was expected to change for me. I promised myself that I wouldn’t be confused and stressed as I stepped into what seemed like a new era of my life. I just knew it that morning when I woke up: 27 was going to bring a big change. I guess my intuition was right because guess what... I got engaged on 10/15/2026! I’m just glad that the thing I was feeling in the pit of my gut wasn't a family member dying or my money drying up.

How I’m feeling:

Honestly, at first I was confused. Like with many things in life, I always expect there to be some guidebook that I’m supposed to check out at my local library and follow. I assume that there are books out there titled How to Be 27 or How to Be an Adult, and right now I’m looking for the one titled How to Be a Wife. I have to remind myself that there is no manual for life and we’re all doing this for the first time. Eventually, my confusion wore off and I started giving myself little prep talks on how I can actually do this. As always, I’m trying to give myself grace to handle the new challenges that come with upgrading my status from "just a girl" to "woman" overnight.

Changes I’ve noticed:

Similar to the changes you automatically notice when your frontal lobe develops during your late 20s, I feel like the shift from "girl" to "soon-to-be wife" happens automatically. Blame it on the patriarchy, but after the reality of the ring on my finger hit me, I instantly wanted to cook him a home cooked meal and fold his underwear (jk about that though, lol). I started calling him "husband" and rubbing his head during car rides. These are things I used to cringe at as a girlfriend. We used to get into numerous arguments about my lack of PDA and pet names during our dating era. I’m not sure where this love surge is coming from, but I think I like this lovey-dovey stuff.

I’m not the only one who has changed; my fiancé has changed as well. I can sense that his instinct to protect me has grown even stronger and his softer side is showing more. It’s becoming harder and harder for him to hide his lover-boy side, hehe.

Hopeful Future:

All in all, I’m taking everything in and trying to enjoy the ride called life. I can’t do anything else but buckle my seatbelt and adjust the rearview mirror, because technically the ride just started.

As with everything else I encounter in this life and share with you guys, please wish me luck!

Hugs and kisses,

Arami :)
